The shell mould is a thin casing of silica sand bonded by phenolic resin. The dry mixture is applied to the preheated surface of a metal pattern and the thermosetting properties of the resin makes surface of the pattern being moulded by a “Biscuit” which after baking is used to form a complete mould into which the molten metal is cast.
The process is equally good for ferrous and Non-ferrous, Chilled Castings Heat & wear Resistant casting and all other special castings.
